Zazzle (Under Construction)Why the sudden change in your art?
2012 I decided was my year for art. January 1st I put my nose to the grind stone and everything kind of fell into place. I used to say I couldn't draw people but the commissions I was getting needed people! Not any more! I studied and practiced until I was happy with the results. Composition, perspective, shading, anatomy, cartooning, I've been studying it all to make the leaps from so-so art to something I'm truly proud of & happy to share with the world.
Where did you come up with your user/pen name and why did you change it?
Linkin was for an obvious teenage love of Linkin Park. Drakes is actually my nickname, a shortening of my last name I got while playing hockey as a kid so Linkindrakes worked for many many years. I joined DeviantArt back in December of 2006 when I was still drawing dragons with a mouse and MS Paint. That was a long time ago and it's time my username was a bit more professional (and actually tied in with my projects.)
What's LuckyDrakes Designs & Rule 32 Tattoo?
It's my brand/store name. LuckyDrakes Designs is the over all blanket I wrap all my creative pieces in.
Rule 32 Tattoo started off as a joke with my fiance. He's always wanted his own tattoo studio and in the future, hopefully... It's a collaboration of my drawing skills and his inking. We do a lot of custom pieces working out of other tattoo studios.
What do you use for your art?
Photoshop 7, Wacom Bamboo tablet, GIMP, Fuji Finepix JV digital camera, Prismacolor markers, Micron lining markers, etc
How long does it take you to finish a piece?
Keeping in mind that I draw in my free time, tattoo designs generally only take a few hours to a day. Fully detailed digital pieces have been known to take at least a month or more. Traditional sketches and marker can be a week or two. Of course anything can take a shorter amount of time.
What influences your style and inspires you?

Do you do commissions?
Yes of course! Contact me privately and we'll get planning. I do work with traditional, digital, tattoo design, website design, murals, album covers & t-shirt designs for bands. Anything else that you can think of, ask, I'm game.
Art trades? Requests?
Trades, I'll do on a case by case basis. I hate promising art and taking forever to get it done because the paying jobs have to be priority but trades tend to be so much fun!
Requests I really don't have the time for unless but when I do I'll sure ask for suggestions. I do like to draw things I've never tried and challenge myself to new things but only when I'm a good little artist and get the commissions done first.
Are you a full time artist? What do you really do all day?
In a way yes but not in the traditional sense. I manage a small town cafe yet my mind never stops working over what I want to draw while working. The whole place is beach themed! I get inspired by the colorful murals on the walls and the bright cheery atmosphere.
Even though I've been putting a greater focus into developing my artistic skills and growing number of commissions, I still have to work 40+ hours a week to pay the bills.
How do you work best?
Sitting in the sun room with the windows open, headphones on blasting music and just zoning in.
Any other questions, just ask!
